In the bow is a chain locker with glassed in bulkheads to contain the chain and a drain through the bow to prevent mud flowing into the
bilge. The chain is fed through a hawse pipe from the windlass. In the forward stateroom there is a large V shaped double berth with
storage below. The hullside is lined with teak ceilings and a shelf runs port and starboard above the berth, along the hullside. Next aft to
port is a bureau of drawers and a large cedar lined hanging locker. Across to starboard is the forward head with an electric head, vanity
and shower.
Next aft up two steps is the main salon. To port is a straight settee with an 8 cu. ft. double holding plate freezer below the seat and behind
the settee back. Above and behind the settee back are alcoves. Across to starboard is an L shaped dinette with a large teak dining table.
The dinette is situated for excellent visibility out the main salon portlights. All the portlights in the main salon are custom tinted safety
glass with painted metal frames. Next aft to port is a large U shaped galley with abundant storage space. The galley portlight is opening
for enhanced ventilation. Across to starboard is a large 2 tier freezer box equipped with holding plates to cool the upper box, 3.5 cu. ft., to
20 below zero and the lower box, 8.0 cu. ft. to 40 degrees. The lower box is fitted with a grid to hang custom food baskets when under way.
Next aft to starboard is the stand up passageway to the aft cabin. In the passageway to starboard is the navigation center with a large
stand up chart table, chart storage, and the navigation electronics and instruments. Below the chart locker is the battery compartment. To
port is the 12V and 110V panels with circuit breakers, meters and monitors.
The aft end of the companionway opens to the aft cabin. To starboard are 2 large cedar lined hanging lockers. Next aft is a double berth.
Across to port is another double berth. Forward of the portside double berth is the aft head with an electric head, vanity and stall
shower/tub. At the forward end of the head is a door to the engine room. The engine room houses the auxiliary, 2 generators, a washing
machine, and a stand up work bench.
The interior is finished with finest hand selected blond teak. All doorways are rounded top and bottom, the headliner is a custom solid
white textured vinyl, the cabin sole is carpeted and the cushions are a special high density extra thick foam.
Her hull is completely insulated with glassed in foam. Her hull floors are custom molded glass beams, the aft edge of the keel is
tapered for reduced drag and enhanced performance under power. The rudder is lengthened 6". There is a dripless stuffing box,
electronic galvanic corrosion system, and custom nonskid. Extra tankage (water and diesel) and all tanks have drains for rust prevention.
The fuel tanks are red lead treated with a heavy tar undercoat for rust prevention. There is a water intake filter, tank gauges, engine oil
purifier, and the steering system has cables led directly down centerline to the rudder for reduced drag and greater efficiency. Two Fram
fuel filters, dual seawater strainers, 3 blade prop, and the engine room has a stand up work bench.
No other Cal 2-46 has these features.
